Prickly Pear belongs to Frantoio Muraglia's Pop Art Collection — hand-moulded ceramic jars that carry the colours of Puglia's land and sea. Here the fiery prickly pear, an emblem of the southern Italian countryside, is sculpted and painted by Apulian ceramists against bright white pottery: tradition and contemporaneity in a single object. Each jar is entirely handmade, a design piece to keep and display. The oil it guards is pure Puglia too: Muraglia's Coratina-led extra virgin, cold-extracted from early-harvest olives near Andria, green and intensely fruity with a characteristic peppery finish and the polyphenol richness of a freshly milled EVOO, free acidity well under the extra-virgin threshold.
