Originated from Italy, Braid Smoked Scamorza is a fresh cheese made with pasteurised cow’s milk, rennet, salt and lactic ferment. Braid Smoked Scamorza has a characteristic pear shape because it is hand-braided by our expert cheese-makers.
After the paste has been made, it is rolled flat to add the ingredients for the filling, and then braided. The braids are immersed in cold water to cool and then dip in brine for about half an hour before it is smoked to acquire a distinctive aroma and flavour.
Naturally smoked with aromatic wood, Braid Smoked Scamorza is appreciated on its own and as an ingredient in savoury recipes. It can be consumed with any green vegetable, green salads and tomatoes. If you want the best results, use it for warm dishes.
